On Friday the children from all the orphan centers were practicing intensely for the Orphan Games. Some of the challenging sports include; Soccer, Running, Acrobatics, Net Ball and many others. All of the kids were so happy for these mini Olympic type games and the chance to meet so many other children facing similar life challenges. When we are given a goal, a target to hit, a life to live up to, then our spirit rises up to meet the struggle with the might of determination!

This past Tuesday a survey group from Water Solutions and the team from Orphans Foundation Fund went out to the Zaire ward in Mererani Tanzania. The technicians from Water Solutions came with advanced equipment and conducted tests to find the best place to drill for water. The community gathered around interested in the process and eager for a source of fresh clean water. All of this is possible because of our partnership with the International Development and Relief Foundation (IDRF).
The Orphans Foundation Fund staff met on Friday with leaders of the Muslim community in Mererani Tanzania to discuss plans and organize for the Zaire ward water and sanitation project and funded by the International Development and Relief Foundation (IDRF). We talked about forming a balanced committee of both Christians and Muslims and Men and Women to oversea the water distribution. After talking in depth concerning possible conflicts, we were glad to find that the relationship between faiths in the Zaire ward are strong and healthy. Good beginnings to great efforts should lead to excellent results for advancing this community here in Tanzania.

In a grand celebration this past Thursday all of the former street children graduated from their vocational training. Can you image the hope in their hearts after leaving life on the streets, drugs, prostitution, and stealing and now having a real future ahead? You haven’t ever seen such smiles on the faces of young men and women as we did on that day. The students in the Orphans Foundation Fund / Chiswea street children project funded by CORDAID studied the vocational trades of Tailoring, Cooking, Automotive Mechanics, Auto body, Electrical installation, and Art. True progressiveness is empowering people with life skills and encouraging them so that they may go out and build lives for themselves.
