Tree Planting Ceremony

On Wednesday we had the grand opening of the new Computer Teaching Center that supports orphans and vulnerable children through IT classes as well as bringing in donations for Orphans Foundation Fund to continue the many projects throughout the country in development and relief efforts for kids. We moved from the new center, which is located at the main O.F.F. office complex, to the O.F.F. Njiro plot which will become the permanent training facility for the organization. The ceremonial tree planting signified the new growth and progress of Orphans Foundation Fund. If you would like to get involved and help make this plan a reality please contact us!

Orphans Foundation Fund Video

This video was made awhile ago and gives a brief overview of the mission of Orphans Foundation Fund and projects we engage ourselves with here in Tanzania.

Some updates to note are the water found at Kikatiti turned out to be seasonal, so we are again looking for either a constant potable source or to purchase another plot of land for the project. The rehabilitation of the old USAID water system is now our hope for Lengast village, but it will be costly to repair and maintain. There are so many needs here in Tanzania, so if you can donate to help these people you would literally be saving lives! If you are in the US or Canada please contact Dr. James Lace, or if you are in Tanzania contact Gosberth Baitwa.

Vocational University Plans

Orphans Foundation Fund has made conceptual architectural plans for the Vocational University for orphans and vulnerable children. What we want to build would distinguish itself by it’s name, design, educational training system, equipment, teachers, and international support so that youth may be trained in various tradesĀ  and make them to become self reliant. We want to make a model for all other VTCs in the country to look up to and follow. You can help make this dream possible, please contact us. Click on the below photos to see the larger photos.

First of many harvests

Rafiki Farm

The Rafiki Farm is golden brown with this past season’s crop of Safflower Cartamo. The drought resistant plant yields over 70% oil which is used for cooking. It will be sold to partially cover operating expenses of Rafiki Child Care Home and also for reinvestment in next years crop. Since this year went so well, we are considering leasing additional acreage to even further boost the profits from this income generating activity. We are working towards sustainability, which is truly the ideal end goal for any organization or individual.

New Rafiki Water Pump installed

Rafiki Water Pump 2 Rafiki Water Pump 3 Rafiki Water Pump 1

After months of use, the first Rafiki Child Care Home water pump unfortunately broke free from it’s mount and fell to the bottom of the well. Many attempts to retrieve it proved unsuccessful, so we opted to install a new pump in it’s place. The new water pump is in a secure concrete housing with a steel cover to keep people from tampering with it. Thanks to all the donors who made this dream a reality, twice over!

It is now 18months since the Orphans Foundation Fund / CORAID Street children project kicked off. The project has registered great great measurable and sustainable results. To date, nearly 100 former street young adults girls and boys have had their lives transformed into responsible citizens and they will never be the same again. This has not been our efforts but the combined efforts of responsible and compassionate people like you. Our big thanks to CORDAID, Dr. James Lace, and the rest of you for your support of this project.

Highlights of the OFF/CORDAID Street Children Project

Here are the project highlights in pictures so that you can see the difference this project has/is been to the lives of the former street children.
